It is a type of cybercrime where scammers impersonate officials from law enforcement agencies like police, CBI etc. They frequently reach victims by SMS, video conversations and other methods and falsely accuse them of major crimes. These scammers influence victims into sending money or leaking private information by instilling a sense of terror.
Digital frauds can include unexpected calls, from police or the government. It has a tendency of high-pressure tactics and immediate arrest threats.
Other ways to identify the digital frauds include vague allegations and can also include unusual payment methods.
If one comes across such things, it is important to first confirm the caller identity and report any suspicious activity immediately. One must also not share any personal information.
