A new report states that women are now at the centre of leisure travel planning in India. Thrillophilia’s Women and Travel Decisions 2025 report, based on 212,000 itineraries and 8.90 million planning signals, has revealed that women influence or plan 72 per cent of leisure trips in India. They take the lead in choosing destinations, budgeting, safety checks, and the overall travel flow.

Early Planning And Lower Cancellations

Women tend to book trips earlier than men, with an average gap of nine days before travel. Early booking helps avoid price spikes and keeps schedules steady. This planning approach has led to an 18 per cent drop in cancellations. Women also spend more time reading reviews, checking photos, and sharing itineraries with family and friends for feedback.

Smarter Spending With Premium Choices

The report shows that women add 28 per cent more premium upgrades, such as boutique stays, spa sessions, wellness activities, and relaxed experiences. Even with these choices, their total spending is only 6 per cent higher than that of men. The data suggests that women compare more options and stretch their budgets through careful selection.

Higher Safety Checks And Fewer Emergencies

Women use more than three times the number of safety filters while planning. This detailed checking has reduced SOS calls by 23 per cent on trips planned by women. The report notes that stronger safety screening leads to fewer emergencies and smoother travel.

Preferred Destinations And Travel Style

For domestic travel, women prefer slower and value focused destinations, such as Rajasthan and Kerala. Goa is the third most favourite place. For international travel, women pick destinations that balance value and comfort, including Bali, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. When travelling with family or children, women choose slow mornings, one main activity, and early dinners. This pattern has brought down reschedules by 7 per cent.

Tier 2 Cities Show The Fastest Growth

The report highlights the strongest rise in Tier 2 cities. Indore, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, and Jaipur are the fastest growing locations for women planners. Indore alone has recorded 31 per cent growth year-on-year (y-o-y). The trend suggests that the expanding ‘She Planned’ travel economy will influence how services, itineraries, and travel products evolve in the coming years.
