The Karnataka government’s Gruha Lakshmi Scheme provides financial assistance to women to improve their living standards. The Gruha Lakshmi Scheme was one of the Congress party's major electoral planks in the 2023 assembly elections, which unseated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from power. However, significant delays in payment disbursement are raising concerns about its implementation and potential discontinuation. Pushpa Amarnath, vice-president of the implementation committee, has assured the beneficiaries of phased disbursements in all the districts. The scheme targets homemakers, landless women, and agricultural women workers for financial aid via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. The beneficiaries have received the financial assistance since August 2023, and it has been directly transferred to their bank accounts.
