Dearness Allowance Increased By 2 Per Cent For UP State Employees

Yogi Adityanath-led government has announced an increase in 2 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) for the employees of the state government for both employees and pensioners, ANI reported. The current DA was calculated at 53 per cent which will now be calculated at 55 per cent, to be implemented in January 2025.

This hike will be reflected in the state government employees’ April salary which will be disbursed in May. This increase will bring relief to 16 lakh UP state government employees and pensioners. Around 12 lakh pensioners will also receive a hike in their Dearness Relief (DR), hence increasing financial support and respite amid progressing inflationary pressure.

Assam DA Hike of 2 per cent

On April 4th 2025, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswas Sarma announced that the state government will give a 2 per cent hike in DA to its employees and pensioners allowing financial respite and support.

Sarma said on the matter that the Assam Cabinet has announced that the DA hike will take effect from January 1st 2025. Sarma said that the DA will be added before Bihu and arrears will be cleared between April and May.

Previous announcement made in 2024: Maharashtra govt increased DA by a significant number of  12 per cent

Maharashtra government announced last year in March 2024,  ordering an increase in DA for its state employees by a staggering 12 per cent under the revised pay scale of the 5th pay commission. The change in payment took place in July 2024. This significant hike helped retirees with extra financial cushioning for retirement which is much required.

The revised dearness allowances which were 443 per cent have increased to 445 per cent took effect and are reflected in February 2025 salary along with the cleared pending payments from July 2024 to 31, January 2025.
