Aadhaar card must be linked to various accounts one owns within a given time period. However, there’s nothing to worry about as most of it can be done online in a jiffy. Here’s everything you need to know.

PAN Card

Deadline: June 30, 2017

This is mandatory to file tax returns, so it should be your top priority. Visit the Income Tax of India Website incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and click on the ‘Link Aadhaar’ link. You will be asked to enter your PAN number, your Aadhaar number and your name as per the Aadhaar card followed by a code. The linking is done as soon as you submit the information. Once done, if you repeat the procedure again, you get a message that Aadhaar is already linked.

Alternatively, you can send an SMS to 567678 or 56161 in the given format for getting the two linked:
UIDPAN<12 digit Aadhaar><10 digit PAN> to 567678 or 56161.

Employee Provident fund (EPF)

Deadline: June 30, 2017

The deadline for North Eastern States is September 30, 2017. For linking Aadhaar to EPF you need to visit the Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) portal unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in. You would have already activated the Universal Account Number (UAN) in which case you would need the UAN number as the login Id and your password to log into the portal. The UAN number is mentioned in your salary slip. Once logged in, select the KYC tab and a screen appears where you can type in and save your Aadhar details.

Alternatively, you can walk into any of the field offices of EPFO or common service centres with your UAN and Aadhaar and get the two linked.

Bank accounts

There are various ways to do this. If you have the Internet banking facility activated for your account, all you need to do is to login to the portal of the bank, go to the ‘Link Aadhaar Number’ option from service request tab and input the Aadhaar number and submit. The linking status will be updated to you through your registered mobile number.

One can also visit a nearby branch with the Aadhaar number and submit a request. Banks also provide a service where the two can be linked by sending an SMS in a required format to a given number, which can be found on the respective banks’ website. One can also send the Aadhaar number to the bank account by visiting an ATM and following necessary instructions.

Mobile Number

Deadline: February 6, 2018

While Aadhaar number is mandatory for new connections, you would also need to re-verify your existing mobile connections with your operator if you have not got your mobile number through eKYC. Your mobile operator will inform you through messages and advertisements. This cannot be done online. For this purpose you will be required to visit the nearest relationship centre of your mobile operator and provide your Aadhaar number. You will be provided a verification code on your mobile number and will also be asked for your fingerprint for biometric verification. Once you have provided the code and your biometrics and after they match, you will receive an SMS in 24 hours to confirm your eKYC.
