According to A.K. Saxena, CMD, Oriental Insurance ideally, the reasonable sum insured should be Rs.10 lakh. However, if one cannot afford the premium then they can try to keep the sum insured under the health policy equivalent to their annual earnings. Further, anybody who starts their career would be single in majority of the cases and can take an individual policy. But as soon as one gets married, self and spouse should be covered under a family floater policy.
