With the aim to reach out to travellers in Tier II cities, travel major Thomas Cook has entered into a partnership with FINO PayTech, which is a banking correspondent and has been granted in-principle payments bank licence by the RBI. The move is to explore new and innovative ways for payment transfer to middle and rural India. Given the outward remittance by Indians, Thomas Cook is looking at ways to provide foreign exchange products and services to people in Tier I to VI cities through FINO Paytech’s reach.

Accelerator program for women entrepreneurs launched Zone Startups India, a Mumbai-based technology startup accelerator and it has launched a new six-week accelerator program— “empoWer”—for supporting women entrepreneurs, who are into building technology ventures. For this initiative, they have brought together several partners, namely the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, GIZ, an organisation involved in building sustainable and effective solutions globally, Vodafone India, Google, Nishith Desai Associates, a law firm, She The People TV, a platform for women to network and exchange ideas, and SheEO, a Toronto-based women entrepreneur support organisation.
