Tata Capital IPO Attracts Investments From 18 Domestic Mutual Funds - Is Yours In The List?

Tata Capital Limited, the financial services arm of the Tata Group, raised Rs 4,642 crore from anchor investors, ahead of the opening of subscription window for its much-awaited Rs 15,511.87-crore initial public offering (IPO). A total of 68 institutional investors were allotted a cumulative 142.40 million equity shares at Rs 326 per share during the anchor round on October 3, 2025.

Of this, 18 domestic mutual funds participated through 59 different schemes, acquiring a total of 50.6 million equity shares worth Rs 1,650.40 crore, or about 35.50 per cent of the total anchor allocation.

The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) emerged as the single biggest investor, buying 21.4 crore shares, or about 15 per cent of the total anchor allocation, worth nearly Rs 700 crore.

Mutual Funds Investment In Tata Capital

ICICI Prudential participated through three schemes, including Balanced Advantage Fund, Equity & Debt Fund, and Multi-Asset Fund. HDFC Mutual Fund invested through its Large Cap Fund, Value Fund, and Multi Cap Fund.

Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund took shares across several schemes, including its Large Cap Fund, Balanced Advantage Fund, Banking & Financial Services Fund, Conglomerate Fund, and Equity Hybrid ’95 Fund. DSP Mutual Fund invested through its Large & Mid Cap Fund, Dynamic Asset Allocation Fund, ELSS Tax Saver Fund, Financial Services Fund, and Business Cycle Fund.

Axis Mutual Fund participated via Flexi Cap, Large Cap, ELSS Tax Saver, Business Cycle Fund, and Large & Mid Cap Fund.

The Nippon India Large Cap Fund acquired the highest stake among all mutual fund schemes, buying 38.34 lakh equity shares worth Rs 125 crore.

Other mutual fund investors included Edelweiss, Kotak, Motilal Oswal, UTI, WhiteOak Capital, Bandhan, Mahindra Manulife, Baroda BNP Paribas, Invesco India, Mirae Asset, and PGIM India.

Tata Capital IPO Details

The Tata Capital, via its IPO, is issuing fresh shares worth Rs 6,846 crore to raise new capital. Existing shareholders, including Tata Sons and IFC, are selling shares worth Rs 8,665 crore through an offer-for-sale.

The shares are being offered with a price band of Rs 310 to Rs 326 per share. The IPO is set to open for subscription on October 6 and will close on October 8, 2025. The shares are expected to list on both the stock exchanges National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on October 13, 2025.

Tata Capital plans to use the net proceeds to strengthen the company’s Tier-1 capital to support future lending and capital requirements.

Tata Capital is offering a total of 475.8 crore shares in its IPO. Nearly 237.31 million shares are reserved for qualified institutional investors (QIBs), while around 94.92 million are for QIBs outside the anchor category. About 71.19 million shares are for non-institutional investors (NIIs), and 166.12 million are set aside for retail investors. There is no shareholder quota.
