PM-KISAN 23rd Instalment: On Saturday, the Centre released the latest instalment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, transferring Rs 18,880 crore directly to more than 9.44 crore beneficiary farmers across the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 23rd instalment of PM Kisan during a programme in Tarakeshwar, Hooghly district, West Bengal. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, more than 9.44 crore beneficiary farmers will get direct transfers under the latest instalment through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, eligible farmers receive income support of Rs 6,000 annually in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each. The latest transfer marks the 23rd instalment since the scheme was launched in 2019.
The ministry stated that the amount has been credited directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts. The scheme provides financial assistance to farmers to support agricultural and household expenses.
Government data shows that cumulative transfers under PM-KISAN are expected to exceed Rs 4.46 lakh crore following the release of the latest instalment.
According to the government's official release, more than 45.35 lakh farmers in West Bengal are likely to receive around Rs 907 crore under the latest instalment.
The Centre has stated that total PM-KISAN disbursements in the state will cross Rs 15,055 crore after this release.
The PM-KISAN disbursement coincided with the launch of several agriculture-related initiatives, including the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Yojana, Agri Stack under the Digital Agriculture Mission, the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and the National Mission on Natural Farming.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, these initiatives are aimed at improving agricultural productivity, strengthen farm incomes and support livelihood opportunities in rural areas.
Data shared by the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO) has shown that more than Rs 4.28 lakh crore has been distributed under PM-KISAN so far. Of this, Rs 1.01 lakh crore has been transferred directly to women beneficiaries.
Farmers can check whether they are eligible for the latest instalment by visiting the PM-KISAN portal and reviewing their beneficiary status.
To check the beneficiary status, farmers need to click on the “Know Your Status” option on the PM-KISAN portal, provide the registered mobile number or the PM Kisan registration number, and enter the OTP for verification. Upon successful completion, all details will be displayed on the same page.
To avoid any delay in receiving payments, beneficiaries are advised to keep their e-KYC, Aadhaar information and bank account details updated.
