The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) announced a scheduled system migration from June 26 at 12:00 am to June 30, 2026, at 11:59 pm. During this period, the portal will remain unavailable to users. Users will not be able to access the member portal, employer portal, or the UMANG app. The technical upgradation is aimed at making the system faster, more reliable, and secure.

According to EPFO’s post on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), “Services on Member Portal, Employer Portal & UMANG App will remain temporarily unavailable from 26–30 June 2026 due to scheduled system migration. The upgraded system will deliver faster, more reliable, and secure services.”

EPF Details On User Portals

The EPFO confirmed that all online services usually available through the portal will be unavailable during the transition phase. During this 5-day window, subscribers cannot submit new withdrawal claims or track the progress of any existing claims. The e-Passbook feature will also remain inaccessible during this period, so subscriber won’t be able to view or download their passbook transactions until the system is restored.

Employers cannot access their portal and file an Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR), a requirement to deposit the monthly subscription amount and get the challan receipts for these five days. Further, in case of new hires, their Universal Account Number (UAN) linking with the provident fund account may face a delay due to the transition.

EPF Details On UMANG App

The EPFO services are interrupted on the UMANG app, too, which is used widely to check EPF balance, passbook transaction, claim status, or seed UAN with Aadhaar, and cannot be accessed for some time.

While accessing EPF details, it pops up a message, “To enhance service delivery, improve processing efficiency, and provide a better user experience, EPFO is undertaking a planned database consolidation and upgradation of software applications for the claims processing systems. As part of the transition, submission and processing of claims through this portal will remain temporarily unavailable from 00:00 hrs on 26 June, 2026, to 23:59 hrs on 29 June, 2026.”

No EPFO- service-related option is working on the UMANG app, as of now. And while the portal is expected to become accessible on July 1, 2026, UMANG app EPFO options will be restored on July 2, as the app shows, “EPFO services are currently unavailable due to migration activities by the department and are expected to resume on 02.07.2026. We regret the inconvenience caused.”

This downtime of the EPFO user portals and UMANG app comes at a crucial time. The government recently ratified the EPF interest rate for the 2025-26 financial year, which may be credited to subscribers' accounts in the near future. This migration is also a stepping stone towards EPFO 3.0, a modernised framework, under which EPFO may eventually introduce ATM and UPI-led withdrawal facilities once the digital infrastructure is fully upgraded.
