The National Pension System (NPS) subscribers have grown to over 23 million subscribers as of September 30, 2026. So far, subscribers could check NPS account-related information on their point of presence (PoP) portal or the eNPS portal, and other information from the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority’s (PFRDA) portal, NPS Trust’s portal, or other resources. On NPS Diwas on October 1 this year, the PFRDA launched the NPS Central portal to make all information available on a single platform in a dashboard format.

To use the NPS Central portal, subscribers don’t need to remember their permanent retirement account number (PRAN). They can log in with their mobile number, date of birth, and the OTP. They can ask questions to the AI assistant, compare their schemes, check schemes’ performance, select a pension fund manager of their choice, along with other options.

The platform brings together all three central recordkeeping agencies (CRAs), for providing a simplified, all NPS related information on the single window.

What Can Subscribers Check On NPS Central Portal?

  • Subscribers can check their NPS accounts and the portfolios across all three CRAs.

  • They can get information about schemes’ features, charges, and returns.

  • They can contribute to the existing schemes or change and opt for a new scheme.

  • The portal also offers the option to download an account statement and track the contribution status when made through other channels.

  • Subscribers can also change their profile details on the same portal, instead of checking PoPs portals.

  • In case of a grievance, they can raise a complaint on the NPS Pension Sahayak Portal, which is a separate portal, but accessible through the NPS portal via a link.

This dashboard portal also attempts to make new subscribers’ onboarding easier, with AI assistance to address applicants’ queries and linking centralised Know Your Customer (CKYC) and DigiLocker facility available on the portal for documentation formalities.

Once registered, subscribers can access the electronic PRAN (e-PRAN) and other services. Notably, the onboarding charges on NPS Central are zero, subject to the conditions.

According to the PFRDA, NPS Central portal services are not restricted to only those offered currently. It plans to expand them with “additional account management”, such as the option to make changes to investment choices and pension funds, offering loans against NPS, services related to NPS Tier II, and onboarding new accounts and maintaining existing NPS Vatsalya accounts, Corporate NPS accounts, offering re-KYC, etc.
