Late Payment Fee To Increase For Higher Dues

The bank will revise its late payment fee for credit card outstanding balances of Rs 50,000 and above, according to a news report by the Economic Times. From August 28, the fee for such outstanding amounts will be Rs 1,300.

The charges for lower outstanding balances will remain unchanged. The late payment fee will be nil for outstanding amounts below Rs 500. It will be Rs 500 for dues between Rs 501 and Rs 5,000, Rs 750 for amounts between Rs 5,001 and Rs 10,000, and Rs 1,200 for outstanding balances between Rs 10,001 and Rs 50,000.

Credit Card Payments To Follow A Set Order

Axis Bank will also specify the order in which payments made towards credit card dues will be adjusted.

Payments will first be adjusted against applicable fees and charges, including taxes. They will then be adjusted towards EMIs, interest charges, purchase transactions and cash advances.

Gift Card Purchases To Get A Separate Category

Gift card purchases will continue to stay outside the eligible rewards category. Such transactions will not earn reward points or cashback and will not count towards spend-based annual fee waivers or milestone benefits.

However, Axis Bank will reclassify these transactions. Instead of being included under the Wallet category, gift card purchases will be placed under a separate Gift Card spend category.

No Rewards Or Cashback On Certain Fees

From August 28, cardholders will also not earn reward points or cashback on spends made towards bridge fees, road fees and tolls.

The changes will apply from August 28, 2026. Cardholders should check the applicable terms for their specific Axis Bank credit card before making transactions.
