Are Banks Closed On September 14
According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) holiday calendar, bank branches will remain closed in Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji and Vijayawada on September 14.
The RBI calendar lists the holiday under Ganesh Chaturthi, Ganesh Puja, Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata, Vinayakar Chathurthi and Hartalika, depending on the location. Customers in these cities will, therefore, not be able to access regular banking services at physical branches today.
Bank holidays can vary across cities even when they fall on the same date. The RBI publishes a state-wise and city-wise holiday calendar, which determines when bank branches remain closed in different locations.
What Banking Services Are Available Today
While branches are closed in the listed cities, customers can access several banking services through digital channels.
Customers can continue using Internet and mobile banking to check their account balances, transfer money, and make bill payments. They can also use fund transfer services, such as RTGS and NEFT for sending money, while Unified Payments Interface (UPI) can be used for making digital payments.
ATMs will also remain available for cash withdrawals and other banking services offered through the machines.

Customers planning to visit a bank branch on September 14 should first check whether their city is included in the RBI’s holiday calendar. The holiday does not apply uniformly across the country. So, branches in cities not listed for September 14 can operate as usual.
