As June 2025 draws closer, whoever is organising their banking operations or personal calendars may wish to know the bank holidays ahead. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has already come out with its official list, stating all the dates when banks, both public sector and private sector, will be closed for the month. This includes national and state-level holidays and the customary weekly off on Sundays and on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
There are a total of 12 bank holidays scheduled for June 2025. Nevertheless, some of these holidays are state-specific and depend on local festivals and traditions. It's always better for the customers to confirm the holiday calendar with their local branches, particularly in case of urgent work or traveling, long weekends, or financial transfers.
One of the most important holidays of the month is Id-ul-Ad'ha (Bakri Id), which will be celebrated on varied dates all over the nation. In Kochi and Trivandrum of Kerala, banks will remain shut on Friday, June 6. The holiday is going to fall on Saturday, June 7, in other parts of India, on the second weekend of the month. As June 8 falls on a Sunday, this makes it a three-day weekend for most.
The other holidays include Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti and Saga Dawa, which will result in bank holidays in Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh on June 11. At the latter half of the month, Rath Yatra and Kang (Rathajatra) will be celebrated in Odisha and Manipur, respectively, on June 27. In the meantime, Remna Ni, a Mizoram state holiday, will occur on June 30.
