State Bank of India (SBI) has released an advisory informing its customers that its net banking facilities will experience temporary fluctuations on a daily basis. This is in the course of normal system maintenance to facilitate an un-interrupted and seamless working along with better digital security. Customers are requested to schedule online transactions outside this time period.

The bank has informed that the probable duration of these disruptions will be from 4:45 AM IST to 5:45 AM IST. The stoppages will usually be for about 3 to 4 minutes in the meantime. Although the effect is likely to be negligible, the bank has regretted the inconvenience and explained that such maintenance contributes towards a better overall customer experience.

Why This Maintenance is Necessary
SBI makes regular updates to ensure a smooth digital performance and secure systems, usually at off-peak hours when the customer activity is very less. These updates are necessary to tackle technical issues, enhance security, and make sure that all services remain running smoothly throughout the day.
Additional Security Features For Customers
SBI has introduced additional security features to provide users more control and protection over their internet banking access. OTP-based login and occasional password resetting every 180 days are included in the protocol. In addition, customers must create a profile password every 365 days.
To increase its strength, the profile password should be a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols and cannot be the same as the login password. Customers can also use the bank's "Lock & Unlock User" tool to lock or unlock their online banking account as needed.

Passwords can be changed any time and any number of times. In fact SBI recommends that your password should be changed periodically to secure access to your account information.
