From Sept 22, 2025, Star Health policyholders may lose cashless treatment as AHPI warns hospitals over outdated tariffs and claim rejections.
Without cashless service, patients must pay hospital bills upfront and seek reimbursement, a stressful and time-consuming process.
Policyholders should check network hospitals, keep documents ready, and consider switching insurers offering reliable cashless services and faster claims.
Do you need to pay more insurance premiums for a black or red coloured car? How much does it cost you? Many factors affect car insurance premiums, but car colour is not one of them. So, whether you are buying a black car, a white car, or a purple car, your insurance premiums remain the same.
Car Color Premium Myth
“The colour of a car has no impact on the premium calculation; the premium remains the same for a make/model regardless of your colour preference. It is calculated only based on the risk factor & the Insured Declared Value (IDV),” says Paras Pasricha, head of motor insurance, Policybazaar.
It could be the perception that colours that may have a resemblance to a sports car or rare colours that may be difficult to recreate might jack up the insurance premium. “However, in reality, the colour of the vehicle seldom has any impact on the insurance premium; therefore, it is a myth,” says Dinesh Mosamkar, senior vice president, consumer underwriting, TATA AIG General Insurance. A sports car could have a higher IDV, being more expensive, and that would be the reason why your premiums will be higher on a sports car.
Key Insurance Cost Drivers
The key factors that majorly impact your insurance premium are make/model, IDV of the car, and age of the car. If your previous year's policy was third-party or comprehensive, and if your previous year's policy is active or has already expired also has a bearing on your insurance premium. Your driving habits - if you had made a claim in the last policy year- also affect your car insurance premium. Last year's no-claim bonus also decides your premium, as you may get a discount. If your car is fitted with anti-theft systems, you can also expect a reduction in premiums.
Even doing a paint job in your car will not affect your car insurance premium. However, you should still inform your insurer in case you are getting a paint job done.
However, the colour of a car can impact its resale value, so you may need to keep that in mind. Also, brighter hues or those colours that are more visible in the dark may make your car safer when driving at night, but they will still not affect insurance premiums.
