The Delhi Development Authority has extended the deadline for one of its housing schemes, famously known as Nagrik Awas Yojana 2026, which gives prospective homebuyers extra time to complete registrations and participate in the e-auction process that is set to roll out. This step was taken as a response to the public demand and is expected to boost participation in this scheme, which offers hundreds of residential units across the prime localities in Delhi.

Extension and Key Timeline Updates

This scheme was originally launched on January 23, 2026, and has now been extended to stay open for registration and earnest money deposits (EMD) submission until May 27, 2026. Applicants can submit their final applications by then to avail a chance at homeownership. DDA stated that the extension is aimed at ensuring wider participation and providing applicants enough time to complete the online registrations and documentation process more smoothly. Previously, the date of form submission started from March 18, 2026, and the last date was March 27, 2026.

The circular released by DDA addressing the scheme mentioned that the last date for booking units under the scheme is extended to May 31, 2026. The extension will enable prospective buyers to apply for the flats listed before and the ones added in this update as well.

The scheme offers a total of 1944 units. The homes are spread across multiple locations across Narela and Sisarpur, which helps open the opportunity to a wider mass of aspiring homebuyers. The homes are catered to High-Income groups (HIG), Middle-Income Group (MIG), Low-Income Group (LIG), Janta Flats, and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) units. This mix of categories makes this scheme attractive to a wide range of buyers, be it first-time homebuyers or investors who seek premium housing in the national capital.

The scheme advises the prospective buyers to take note of the extensions that take place while also completing the booking of flats with the EMD amount as early as possible to avoid any last-minute hassles.

The DDA housing scheme has long been seen as a reliable and transparent option for many homebuyers in Delhi. With the rising real estate prices in the capital, the availability and extension of this scheme offer a fresh chance to aspiring homebuyers to convert into successful homeowners.
