Stock Market Cues For Today: The stock market is expected to factor into various global and domestic cues on August 4. Domestic cues such as the announcement of Q1 results by various companies and international cues such as trade tariff related announcements and fluctuations in key commodity prices are likely to affect the stock market today.
On August 4, the Gift Nifty opened marginally lower but soon the index gained 0.11 per cent to trade at 24,697 levels indicating a positive start for the benchmark Nifty. Earlier on August 1, the Nifty 50 shed 203 points or 0.82 per cent to close at 24,565.35 levels. On the other hand the Sensex closed at 80,599.91 falling 585.67 points or 0.72 per cent.
India-US Trade Deal
The India-US trade deal is facing a roadblock after US President Donald Trump announced that 25 per cent trade tariffs will be levied on India along with a separate penalty. Despite the announcement, trade negotiations are still ongoing between India and the US. Any announcement or developments on the trade deal front are expected to affect trade on D-street today.
Crude Oil Prices On August 4
Crude oil prices continued to ease on August 4 with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude prices trading at $67.27 down by $0.06 or 0.09 per cent. The price of Brent Crude traded around $69.52 down by $0.15 or 0.22 per cent.
Gold Rates Today
Gold prices witnessed a slight decline on August 4 as the price of one gram of 24 karat purity gold remained around Rs 10,149. On the other hand the prices of one gram of 22 karat gold and 18 karat gold were Rs 9304 and Rs 7613 respectively, according to the Goodreturns website.
Q1 Results Today
As many as 106 companies will announce the financial results for the June quarter of FY26 on August 4. The companies announcing their quarterly results on August 4 include Shree Cement, Aurobindo Pharma, DLF, Escorts Kubota, Aditya Birla Capital, Marico, Delta Corp, Siemens Energy India, Godfrey Phillips India, Sona BLW Precision Forgings and Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company.
US Markets Finish In Red
US market indices finished the session lower on August 1 with the Dow Jones Industrial Average, Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 finishing the session lower by 1.23 per cent, 2.24 per cent and 1.6 per cent respectively.
Asian Indices Trade Mixed On August 4
On August 4, Asian indices traded mixed as the Nikkei 225 opened in the red and soon fell 1.35 per cent to an early low at 40,247. On the other hand the Hang Seng and the Shanghai Composite traded in the green with marginal gains of 0.26 per cent and 0.2 per cent in the early hours of August 4. At the time of writing the KOSPI also traded 0.96 per cent higher.
