The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has extended the deadline for applications under its Pune Board housing lottery for 4,462 flats, to October 15, 2026. This decision comes after the submitted applications faced technical difficulties during the application process.
The Pune board had initially opened registrations and application submissions on August 14, 2026, with September 15, 2026, as the original deadline. Complaints about technical issues have prevented some applicants from completing the process. According to a report in the Pune Mirror, verification has also slowed down due to the festivities.
In order to give applicants more time for registration purposes, MHADA has now extended the application window by almost a month. The lottery draw has also been postponed, as it was earlier scheduled for October 13, 2026. However, now, it will be conducted on November 25, 2026, after the extended application and verification process is formally done.
Massive Demand For The Scheme
The housing scheme has received a strong response from prospective homebuyers. As on September, a total of 82,223 applications have been submitted for just 4,462 available homes. Of these, 44,531 applicants have completed their applications by paying the earnest money deposit (EMD) amount. Only applications that are accompanied by the deposit will be considered for participation in the lottery. With the application window now open until October 15, the number of eligible applications is expected to rise. The Pune Board has indicated that the number of applications submitted with the deposit could reach around 100,000 before the new deadline comes closer.
4,462 Homes Under Two Schemes
This lottery includes homes that are available under two housing schemes: a total of 1,491 units are being offered under the 15 per cent Social Housing Scheme, while another 2,971 homes are part of the 20 per cent Inclusive Housing Scheme.
The 20 per cent scheme includes homes from private developer projects that are made available through MHADA at comparatively affordable prices. Such units attract considerable interest from homebuyers who are looking for low-cost housing options in Pune.
The current lottery is also significant because it is reportedly the final draw under the 20 per cent inclusive housing scheme. This has contributed to the high level of interest among applicants seeking homes through the scheme.
Prospective applicants have until October 15, 2026 to complete the registration, submit their application and pay the required deposit. The additional time is expected to provide applicants who faced trouble with submission enough time to complete the process.
