Mahesh Patil steps down as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC with effect from January 7. He has resigned after 21 years with the asset management company. The AMC has announced the appointment of Harish Krishnan, currently Co-Chief Investment Officer (Co-CIO) and Head - Equity, as Chief Investment Officer - Equity with effect from January 8.
Patil was managing assets worth Rs 4.5 lakh crore with ABSL AMC, one of the oldest AMCs that celebrated 30 years last year. He was the primary fund manager for Aditya Birla Sun Life Large Cap Fund and Aditya Birla Sun Life Infrastructure Fund. Aditya Birla Large Cap Fund manages AUM worth 31,450 crore.
“Our flagship fund, ABSL Large Cap Fund (formerly, Frontline Equity fund), which I have been managing since Nov 2005, is ranked No.1 in performance within its category over a 20-year period. This was possible only because of the support of my team and my mentor A. Balasubramanian (CEO, ABSL AMC),” says Patil on his LinkedIn post. “ I am grateful to my team of FMs, analysts, traders and other investment staff for their dedication and contribution to my success,” he adds.

The fund house has announced some more changes to its key personnel. Kaustubh Gupta, currently Co-Head Fixed Income (Markets), has been redesignated as Chief Investment Officer-Fixed Income.
Sunaina da Cunha, currently Co-Head Fixed Income (Credits), has been redesignated as Co-CIO - Debt.
And, Sneha Suhas has been appointed as Chief Technology Officer with effect from January 8. Sneha Suhas has over 25 years of extensive experience across diverse technology leadership roles. She has been the Chief Technology Officer of Aditya Birla Capital Digital (ABCD) since September 2024, says the Notice-cum-Addendum released by the AMC. Prior to joining ABCD, she led technology functions at several leading BFSI institutions, including Standard Chartered Bank, IDFC First Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services and ICICI Bank.
