Stock Market Holiday: Indian stock markets will remain closed on Thursday, March 26, on account of Ram Navami, a major Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Rama. Trading on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE (formerly Bombay Stock Exchange) will resume on Friday, March 27.

This is the second trading holiday in March after the Holi break on March 3.

Dalal Street is also set for a truncated trading schedule next week. Markets will remain closed again on Tuesday, March 31, for Mahavir Jayanti, and on Friday, April 3, for Good Friday.

Is MCX Open on March 26

In the commodities segment, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will function with limited hours on March 26. Trading will remain shut during the morning session, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, trading will resume in the evening session from 5:00 PM till 11:30/11:55 PM.

A similar partial holiday will be observed on March 31 as well, on account of Shri Mahavir Jayanti. The MCX will remain closed during the morning session and reopen for trading in the evening.

On regular trading days, MCX operates from 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM. However, during the daylight savings period, usually between November and March, the market stays open a little longer, till 11:55 PM.

Meanwhile, the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), which primarily deals in agri-commodities, will remain closed for the entire day in both sessions.
