The committee has been hosting consultations across several cities in India to gather inputs on pay, allowances, pensions, dearness allowance, employee pay levels, fitment factor, and other service-related matters before it makes a concrete decision.
Who All Can Interact With Pay Commission
For these consultations, the commission invites central government and Union Territory organisations and institutions, as well as unions and associations of employee and pension bodies, who wish to interact with the panel.
However, the Mumbai appointment facility is specifically available to stakeholders, unions and associations that have already submitted their memorandum to the commission, according to a report by Livemint. Those who seek an appointment with the body must submit their memorandums by October 10, 2026. Applications can be made through the official 8th CPC website and its designated online form.
8th Pay Commission meeting Schedule
The Mumbai visit is a part of a series of consultations planned by the commission. The commission is also expected to engage with railway employees and departments in Mumbai. The Railway Ministry had earlier indicated that the panel intends to visit departments under the Central Railway zone to gain first-hand insight into employees’ working conditions.
The pay commission is examining all the possible changes to the remuneration and benefits given to central government employees and pensioners. The scope includes better pay, allowances and other benefits. This also takes into account factors such as rationalisation, changing functional requirements and other needs. The consultations are significant because the commission’s recommendations can affect a massive section of the central government workforce as well as the pensioner community. The pay commission has completed 10 months of its total 18-month tenure earmarked for consultations across India.
