Summary

Summary of this article

  • Flipkart’s tie-up with India Post aims to tap into 1.6 lakh post offices for last-mile reach.

  • Customers can expect more reliable deliveries in urban, semi-urban, and remote areas.

  • They will get prepaid and cash-on-delivery options, real-time tracking, and OTP-based authentication.

A Reddit user (IDKWhoIMReally) recently posted a grievance on the social media platform, complaining about persistent logistical and delivery issues with Flipkart. The user wrote, “I ordered a TWS from Flipkart on the 30th to my hostel in Delhi. At that time, they showed 2nd May as the expected delivery time. Now, I don't know what mess is going on with their logistics, but my order keeps getting shipped to Lucknow for no reason. I will be travelling internationally after 9th May, so I won't be able to receive the order then. Even their help is just a dumb AI chatbot, with no option to contact a human representative. The order is prepaid. What can I do? Please help.”

Another user (WorkingBet9469) replied, “It is common for Flipkart (Ekart). They have no idea what they are doing. Never buy anything from Flipkart. Everything sucks. You’ll not be able to satisfactorily send the product back even if it is problematic.”

But this is not a one-off message. On different platforms, users have been venting out, showing their frustration due to Flipkart’s delivery-related glitches.

Viral Davda, an ex-assistant manager at Adani Group, Mundra, posted on LinkedIn regarding delivery issues a few months back. “When Logistics Fail — Twice! Flipkart & Ekart Logistics. A few weeks ago, I ordered a watch from Flipkart, expecting it to be delivered in Rajkot, Gujarat. But to my surprise, the shipment was misrouted to Bangalore due to a logistics error. After raising a complaint, customer support admitted the fault and initiated a replacement. I thought that was the end of it. Today, the replacement shipment — again — reached Bangalore instead of Rajkot. Same issue. Same mistake. Same silence. This isn't just a one-time glitch. It's a system failure, and no one seems answerable.”

These messages (and there are many more) show the glitches Flipkart has been facing in its delivery logistics for a long time. However, wrong delivery is not the only issue; these could also include delivery not available at a location, or the cash on delivery option not available, etc.

To address such logistics issues, the e-commerce platform and the Department of Posts (DoP) entered into an agreement on May 22, 2026. The partnership is aimed at improving the delivery services for the company by leveraging the department’s extensive physical infrastructure to provide last-mile delivery with enhanced services.

According to the Ministry of Communications’ statement, under this agreement, Flipkart will gain access to India Post’s vast network of 1.6 lakh post offices. This partnership will provide its customers efficient, reliable, and customer-centric delivery across urban, semi-urban, rural, and especially the remote areas, which have historically faced logistical challenges.

Flipkart will benefit from greater reach to the customers, better market presence, and improved services in every corner of the nation. For the DoP, this collaboration is a step to continue in the direction of its transformation into a leading logistical organisation. With this partnership, the DoP expects to strengthen its parcel business and, at the same time, support India’s digital economy.

How Will Customers Benefit?

For the customers, this partnership is expected to improve the delivery services for Flipkart users. One of the notable benefits will be the availability of both prepaid and cash-on-delivery (COD) parcels, a real-time shipment tracking facility, and OTP-based delivery authentication, ensuring secure transactions. The technology integration under the agreement is expected to further improve the operational coordination and the faster delivery of goods.

As the e-commerce sector is rapidly expanding, the partnership between DoP and Flipkart is expected to benefit customers in urban and accessible regions with improved services and potential customers in remote and underserved locations with accessibility to products and services.
