The Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA’s) Apna Ghar Aawas Yojana 2025 notified on September 5, 2025 that all the 152 newly-listed flats were booked within an hour.  The latest addition to the scheme included 76 middle-income group (MIG) flats in Lok Nayak Puram and an equal number of economically weaker section (EWS) flats in Narela. Both sets of units were offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with the booking deposit fixed at Rs 4 lakh for an MIG flat and Rs 50,000 for a EWS flat.

DDA attributed this sudden surge in buyer interest not to chance but to its reworked sales and marketing strategy. Under the direct supervision of Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena, who also chairs the DDA, the body has been pushing more aggressively than ever before. The flats in both Narela and Lok Nayak Puram have been floated multiple times since 2023, yet they struggled to find takers in earlier rounds.

Launched originally on May 20, Apna Ghar Aawas Yojana offers a larger basket of 7,500 ready-to-move-in flats spread across four categories EWS, low-income group (LIG), middle-income group (MIG), and high-income group (HIG) flats. The locations are also spread out: Narela, Lok Nayak Puram, and Siraspur for the affordable segments, with higher-category units carved out in selected pockets. The intention is to make flats immediately available rather than dragging buyers into the limbo of under-construction projects.

The demand has remained persistent enough for DDA to stretch the scheme’s duration. Initially set to close earlier, it was extended by three months in August and will now run until November 26, 2025.

On August 26, 2025, DDA rolled out a premium housing scheme targeting high-end buyers. These are in prime localities, such as Vasant Kunj, Alaknanda, Jasola, Dwarka, Rohini, and a handful of other similar upmarket addresses. For this premium segment, the flats are being auctioned through e-bidding, with online registration and earnest money deposits due by September 24, 2025.

DDA has said that the “move is intended to address the diverse housing needs of prospective home buyers.” The authority expects Rs 100 crore to come in from these bookings.
