The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has recently announced a new scheme called the Karamyogi Awas Yojana. As a part of the scheme more than 3,500 flats will be offered in Narela, Delhi to government employees, according to a report by Hindustan Times which cited official sources privy to the matter.
As per the report, the registration process for the scheme is set to commence in December. DDA plans to spread out the units across three pockets of Sector A1 to A4 in Narela. The flats will include accommodations sized as per the high-income group (HIG), middle-income group(MIG) and economically weaker section flats (EWS).
Employees across government departments, public sector undertakings, hospitals and other government-linked institutions at the central and state levels will be eligible to apply for the scheme.
Karamyogi Awas Yojana: Scheme Details
To make housing more affordable for employees, the government also plans to offer a 25 per cent rebate. While the price for these flats is not known, the report suggests that the 25 per cent rebate will be offered across categories.
The flats will be offered as a part of the scheme in two phases, according to the report. In the first phase 1,168 flats will be on offer. Out of these flats, 272 HIG units, 576 MIG units and 320 will be EWS units. In the second phase, 936 flats will be released, of which 232 will be HIG units, 448 MIG and 256 EWS units. 1552 units will be offered in Pocket 13, this pocket will comprise 352 HIG units, 776 MIG units and 424 EWS units.
Why Is Karamyogi Awas Yojana Being Launched
The aim of the Karamyogi Awas Yojana is to create clusters of government and PSU employees living within a common neighbourhood and offer them affordable housing within Delhi. The scheme also seeks to add to new and upcoming infrastructural development in Narela.
Notably, all flats that are offered have completed construction. The registration process is likely to be held online. DDA is currently undertaking the setting up of the registration process which includes publishing brochures and the announcement of an online application system. The process is likely to involve the application and verification of documents by the authority as per the guidelines that will be released.
Key details such as the pricing, layout plans, unit availability and payment procedure will be released via the brochure. If the registration process for the scheme follows the process outlined for other housing schemes, applicants will be required to provide an identity proof, employment proof, and other documents that support eligibility.
