Motor insurance is mandatory, which means any car that has to ply on roads must have a valid motor insurance policy. Insurers do insure cars that are fitted with CNG kits. However, it will cost you more as insurance companies charge additional premiums for cars fitted with CNG, which is about 5 per cent of the kit’s value. What you need to ensure is that you quickly get your insurer to endorse this addition to your existing policy and pay the premium that you are now liable to pay.
