JanSamarth Portal was launched on June 6, 2022, as an integrated online platform for government-sponsored credit programs. It connects 13 central schemes with more than 200 financing institutions and consolidates eight ministries and more than 10 nodal agencies into a single interface.
The portal encompasses six broad categories of loans: education loans, business activity loans, renewable energy loans, agri loans (Kisan Credit Card), agriculture infrastructure loans, and livelihood loans. It consolidates credit-linked schemes operated through various ministries and nodal agencies so that applicants will have to use one gateway rather than distinct schemes.
First, the candidate needs to go to the portal and choose "Register". Fill in a mobile number or email, insert the provided captcha correctly, and OTPs (one-time passwords) will be received on the registered mobile number and email. On verification of OTPs, fill in the registration form by providing personal information. After being registered, you can log in and get access to the list of schemes and the application interface.
Within the portal, the user can select their category of loan (education, business, agriculture infrastructure, or livelihood). They go through an eligibility verification, fill out the application form, upload necessary documents like identity, address, bank account, proof of income, or letter of admission (for student loans), and submit. The portal sends the application to one or multiple of the over 200 lending institutions for evaluation and in-principle sanction. The applicant can monitor the application status through the "My Applications" tab.
Each of the 13 schemes has its own eligibility criteria, such as income limits, business or course requirements, or type of project in agriculture infrastructure. The portal provides the eligibility details of every scheme. Applicants must upload key documents based on the category.
The portal allows lenders to update status and disbursement information on every application, and applicants are informed at every step.
