Ahead of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC’s) announcement about repo rate on August 6, 2025, two banks reduced their fixed deposit (FD) interest rates. Indian Bank and Bank of India revised their special FD rates in August 2025, reducing them by up to 20 bps. Notably, the RBI has cut the repo rate by 1 per cent (100 bps) in 2025, and according to experts, a further cut is unlikely this time. However, declining inflation and other macroeconomic factors would be key components in the MPC’s rate decision this month. Since the repo rate cut in June this year, banks have been actively revising their deposit and lending rates to align with the policy rates.

Here, we check the latest rates for these two public sector banks.

Indian Bank

Indian Bank offers two special FDs: IND SECURE FD for 444 days and IND GREEN FD for 555 days, and offers 6.70 per cent and 6.60 per cent, respectively.
