The EPFO shares updates about its schemes, initiatives, important deadlines and decisions affecting members. The channel also provides information about grievance redressal camps organised to address complaints raised by members.

Employees and employers can use these updates to track developments related to provident fund contributions, pension benefits and insurance coverage.

The channel also shares links to educational videos explaining various EPFO-related processes. These include information on EPF advance withdrawals, contributions after rejoining employment and the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana.

Steps To Join The EPFO WhatsApp Channel

To join the official EPFO WhatsApp channel, members need to search for 'EPFO' (https://www.whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb6kmH48Pgs8ftd6Kw3Y) in the 'Channels' section in WhatsApp, and select the option to follow it. They can then access updates posted by the organisation.

Following the channel allows members to check announcements about EPFO schemes and services through WhatsApp.

EPFO Services Available Through Official Platforms

The EPFO WhatsApp channel does not allow members to complete transactions or submit requests relating to EPF, EPS or EDLI.

Members who need to carry out such tasks must use the official EPFO portal or the UMANG app, depending on the service required. They can also visit their regional EPF office for assistance with services available through the offline process.

The WhatsApp channel is intended for sharing information and cannot replace the organisation’s service platforms.

EPFO Extends September 2026 ECR Filing Deadline

Separately, the EPFO has extended the deadline for employers to file the Electronic Challan Cum Return (ECR) for September 2026 from October 15 to October 31, 2026. In a social media post dated October 14, the organisation cited the additional time required to file returns following the revision of the wage ceiling.

The ECR is a monthly electronic return that employers submit through the EPFO portal. It contains employee-wise details of wages and contributions towards EPF, EPS and EDLI. Employers must file the return through the designated portal, as the WhatsApp channel does not provide an ECR filing facility.
