Traders are eagerly searching for the next Trump-branded memecoin after the launch of a token named after former President Donald Trump briefly reached a fully diluted valuation (FDV) of $80 billion on January 18.
Identifying the next authentic Trump-themed token involves navigating through numerous imitations.
To date, only one other token has received endorsement from the Trump family: Official Melania (MELANIA), named after First Lady Melania Trump. This token achieved an FDV of approximately $14 billion before dropping to under $6 billion by January 20, according to CoinMarketCap.
At the same time, many unofficial knockoff tokens have managed to amass market capitalizations in the hundreds of millions before experiencing steep declines. One such token, misleadingly titled Official Barron Meme (BARRON), peaked at around $400 million before plunging by more than 90%, according to DEX Screener.
Vivek Ramaswamy Exits DOGE, Leaving Musk As Sole Head
In a post on X, Vivek Ramaswamy, an Indian American entrepreneur and politician confirmed his exit from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) hours after Trump assumed charge as the president.
“It was my honour to help support the creation of DOGE,” Ramaswamy said in a Jan. 20 X post.
“I’m confident that Elon and the team will succeed in streamlining government,” he added.
Ramaswamy didn’t elaborate on his future plans, but News outlets like CBS News and The New York Times reported that the business leader and author would soon announce he is running for governor of Ohio.
Coinbase Solana transactions delayed amid memecoin frenzy
Users of Coinbase complained of hours-long delays on Solana transactions as network congestion tied to US President Donald Trump’s Jan. 18 memecoin launch impacted the cryptocurrency exchange.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said in a Jan. 19 post on the X platform, the crypto exchange’s “team is working hard on scaling our Solana infra now.”
“Lots of Solana activity last few days, we were not anticipating this level of surge,” Armstrong added.
Following the recent memecoin launches by Trump and his wife, Melania, solana users experienced network difficulties.
