Tell us what success means to you?

Success means different things to different people. For me, it is achieving what I set to achieve for myself.

What made you make a shift from being a doctor to being a model?

It was only supposed to be a shift for a limited period of time when I took the decision. I am a doctor even today. At that time, I joined the field of modelling for fun and challenge; I never thought that I would enjoy so much success.

You have won many laurels in the modelling world. What does it take to be successful in this field?

I have always believed in giving 100 per cent to whatever I do. There is absolutely no shortcut to success. One has to work really hard, be disciplined in life and give your best in any given field. In modelling, along with these points, you have to look good by dressing right and taking care of your skin, physique and take the necessary steps like going for as many auditions as possible or participating in a beauty pageant.

How did it feel to win some of the most coveted modelling awards like Mrs. World?

At the top of the world! It was a proud moment for me to bring the crown for the first time to India. I got a huge response from not only the married women but even husbands and mother-inlaws. They told me that this has given them hope that marriage doesn't mean you have to retire from the glamour world and one can continue to be a model or even start modelling.

You are a mother of two children. What are their names? What does motherhood mean to you?

Motherhood is my biggest crown. My daughter's name is Kiara and son is Zhiaan. They are my life and I love them unconditionally.

How has support from your family helped you achieve what you have?

My family is very supportive and has always been. My parents have always encouraged us to achieve our true potential. Without their support I would not have been able to reach where I have.

How have you successfully managed your career and your family life? Also, how do you juggle between so many different roles? Any tips that you would like to share with other women?

I am fortunate to have a huge support system in my parents, sister and brother. My children understand my need to work. I try and finish my work till 4pm when my son comes home or on weekends when he is not with me. If I travel for work my mom or sister looks after my son.

Can you share with us your biggest dream?

I am working on my biggest dream right now. I have a goal that I want to achieve in next ten years. Right now it is in an ideation phase; once I implement it, I will definitely share it with you.

What role money plays in your life?

Money plays an important enough role in my life. I need it for living my life, to be comfortable and live the way I want to.

Considering irregular income in your profession, how do you take care of regular expenses?

I make sure that I keep aside some money so that I can cope during a no-work situation. My financial advisor helps me with that.

How much money do you carry with you?

Around Rs 1,000. I also have two credit cards.

How do you manage your finances?

Ravi Jethani of Beyond Life is my financial advisor. I follow his advice.

Aditi Gowitrikar, a doctor by profession, is also a model and an actor. She won the Gladrags Megamodel contest in 1996 and the Mrs. Universe Crown in 2001
