The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) will conduct a computerised draw for the awaited Mumbai housing lottery on August 6, 2026. In this lottery, a total of 2,640 residential units have been listed across various parts of the city. The lottery is scheduled to begin at noon on August 6 and the results are expected to be published immediately after the draw on the official website of MHADA.
This lottery is one of Mumbai’s biggest affordable housing schemes this year and has already attracted strong interest from homebuyers. The scheme has already received 78,976 applications, while 55,244 applicants have already completed the payment of the earnest money deposit (EMD), making them eligible for the computerised draw, according to a report by ET Realty.
Location of the Units Listed
This housing scheme covers flats which are located all across several locations in Mumbai while also catering to buyers from different income groups, including economically weaker sections (EWS), low income group (LIG), middle income group (MIG), and high income groups (HIGs).
The listed units are spread across Vikhroli, Goregaon, Malad, Powai, Andheri, Wadala, Sion, Tardeo, and other parts of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
This diversification ensures that people from all financial backgrounds are catered to, and buyers also get a chance to pick homes in accordance with their liking and budget. The inclusion of these multiple micro-markets also enhances the scheme’s appeal.
This lottery provides a fresh opportunity for families who were unable to secure homes in the previous draw, where the demand had far exceeded the supply. In addition to being a helping hand in converting homebuyers' dreams into successful homeownership, MHADA plays a crucial role in urban development by redeveloping old buildings and improving the living conditions for many families.
Why is this Scheme Unique
The lottery process will be conducted through a computerised system which is particularly designed to ensure transparency and fairness in the allotment process. Successful applicants will be announced through the live draw, after which MHADA will publish the list of winners as well as the waiting list candidates on its official portal.
Applicants who do not get allotments will get the deposited money back according to the prescribed procedure. MHADA has advised homebuyers wanting to take part in the draw to track the updates shared by the authority to ensure a faster and safer approach to homebuying.
