Rajasthan launches four housing projects across three cities
Projects will add 457 flats and independent houses
Journalist housing scheme offers 144 flats in Jaipur
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on October 17, 2026, launched four residential projects developed by the Rajasthan Housing Board (RHB), expanding the state’s housing offerings across Jaipur, Kishangarh and Bhiwadi. The initiatives include a dedicated housing scheme for accredited journalists in Jaipur, alongside residential developments aimed at increasing housing availability in other urban centres.
The projects were inaugurated at the Constitution Club in Jaipur in the presence of Urban Development and Housing Minister Jhabar Singh Khara and Jaipur Mayor Sunil Kothari.
Four Projects To Add Residential Units Across Rajasthan
Of the four projects, two are located in Jaipur, while Kishangarh and Bhiwadi will each receive one residential development, according to a report by The Times of India.
The Indira Gandhi Nagar housing project in Jaipur will provide 144 flats for accredited, full-time journalists under a special registration scheme.
Located in Sector 9 of Jagatpura, the development is intended to address housing requirements among media professionals. The second Jaipur project is the next phase of Greenwood Horizon in Pratap Nagar, which will comprise 146 residential units. In Kishangarh, the housing board will develop 90 independent houses along Khoda Ganesh Road. Meanwhile, the Aravali Vihar project in Bhiwadi will offer 77 flats.
Together, the four developments are expected to expand the Rajasthan Housing Board’s residential inventory and provide homebuyers with options across different locations and housing formats.
Special Housing Scheme For Journalists
The housing scheme in Indira Gandhi Nagar is a key component of the announcement. The project will offer 144 MIG-B flats in a building comprising a basement, stilt level and nine floors.
According to details reported ahead of the launch, each flat will have a built-up area of 118.38 square metres and a super built-up area of 154.639 square metres. The estimated cost per flat is Rs 74.68 lakh.
Eligibility is restricted to accredited, full-time journalists working in Rajasthan who depend on journalism for their livelihood. Applicants must also meet the prescribed family-income criteria, including an annual family income exceeding Rs 3 lakh. Allotments will be made through a lottery system, subject to the applicable eligibility conditions and income-based preferences.
Government Highlights Wider Development Agenda
The latest launches underline the Rajasthan Housing Board’s role in expanding planned residential development beyond the state capital. With projects spread across Jaipur, Kishangarh and Bhiwadi, the initiative could offer additional housing choices while addressing the specific requirements of professional groups.
The effectiveness of the schemes will depend on transparent allotment, adherence to eligibility rules and the timely implementation of the projects. For prospective applicants, the next step will be to review the housing board’s official registration notices, eligibility requirements, and allotment procedures before applying.
