The advisory was issued by the Registry’s Computer Cell.
Supreme Court Identifies Another Fake Website
The Registry has identified scigovinjudicial.com as a newly detected fraudulent domain impersonating the official online presence of the Supreme Court of India.
The notice said the advisory was issued in continuation of earlier public notices dated July 16, 2025, April 28, 2026, and August 13, 2026. These notices concerned deceptive websites designed to imitate the Court’s official portal and defraud the public through targeted phishing mechanisms.
The Registry clarified that the Supreme Court of India is the registered user of the domain sci.gov.in. It advised users to verify the authenticity of website addresses by hovering over URLs before engaging with them. The notice also advised users to verify electronic communications claiming to be associated with the Court before responding to them.
What Information Could The Fake Website Seek?
According to the Registry, cybercriminals could use the fraudulent domain to solicit sensitive personal data and confidential credentials from members of the public. The Supreme Court said, “All stakeholders are strictly cautioned against divulging any personal / financial information.” It warned that sharing such details could facilitate data theft by cybercriminals.
The advisory specifically highlighted the risk of confidential information being obtained through the fraudulent website and urged users to remain cautious while interacting with online communications claiming to be associated with the Supreme Court.
What Should Users Do If They Suspect A Phishing Attempt?
The Registry has also outlined steps for individuals who suspect they have been compromised through the phishing attempt. The notice advises such individuals to immediately update the passwords of all their online accounts. They should also notify their respective banks and report any unauthorised access. As more public services and information move online, users need to remain vigilant while sharing information and accessing websites.
