What Is The Ladli Behna Yojana
The Madhya Pradesh government launched the Ladli Behna Yojana in June 2023 to provide monthly financial assistance to eligible women in the state. The programme initially offered Rs 1,000 per month, with the monthly assistance subsequently raised to Rs 1,250 and then Rs 1,500.
With the October transfer, the government has completed 41 instalments since the scheme began. The monthly payment is intended to provide eligible women with financial support for household expenses and other needs.
The state government has allocated Rs 23,882 crore for the scheme in the 2026-27 financial year. Eligible beneficiaries must meet the scheme's prescribed conditions to receive the monthly assistance.
The latest transfer also includes a separate disbursement for subsidised cooking gas cylinders. Under the applicable provisions, eligible women receive cylinders at a subsidised price of Rs 450. The government has transferred Rs 115 crore to the accounts of around 23 lakh women for this benefit.
