PM Internship Scheme: Financial Aid To Be Provided, Know Registration Closing Date

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has invited applications for eligible candidates under the PM Internship Scheme 2025 via the online official portal established for the scheme. The scheme is in its second pilot phase where registration is still open for the eligible candidates and is set to be closed by the next week. It has promised to offer valuable work experience to aspiring candidates across various different sectors.

What is the PM Internship Scheme?

The scheme aims to provide work experience to the young individuals in the industry. It is a government initiative announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman herself in the Union Budget 2024-2025. It provides newcomers required skills to thrive in a professional environment. Under this scheme, selected candidates are placed in India’s top 500 companies to gain practical skills that will enhance their career prospects. This programme is designed to equip these newcomers with industry insights and boost their employability.

The applications are open till March 12, 2025 for the eligible candidates to apply for the scheme for internships.

 

Who is eligible to apply for the PM Internship Scheme?

To apply for the PM Internship Scheme, you must meet the following criteria. The criteria define an appropriate candidate as an Indian citizen aged between 21 and 24 years as of the last date of submission of the application. The candidate must not be employed full-time or engaged in a full-time education. The candidate must carry a Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or its equivalent, a Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent, or hold a certificate from an industrial training institute (ITI), a diploma from a polytechnic institute, or a graduation degree such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Pharma, etc.

 

How to register?

Interested and eligible candidates should follow these steps to apply:

Step 1: Visit the official website pminternship.mca.gov.in

Step 2: Candidates need to create an account on the portal, providing their personal details, educational qualifications, and other necessary information

Step 3: Applicants should create a profile that includes details about their academic background, skills, and areas of interest. The profiles will be used to align candidates with suitable internship opportunities

Step 4: Browse available internship opportunities. Submit the application before March 12, 2025

The Interns will receive a certificate of completion under the PM Internship Scheme from the private companies they worked in.

 

Financial Aid

Every intern will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 5000 for the entire duration of the internship - which is a year. The employer companies will initially pay a monthly payment of Rs. 500 based on attendance, performance and professionalism shown by the intern. Once the companies complete the payment, the government of India will transfer the remaining Rs. 4,500 immediately to the Intern’s Aadhaar-linked bank account. In addition to the stipend, the interns will also receive a one-time grant of Rs. 6000 from the government during enrollment to their bank accounts.

Insurance

Insurance coverage is provided to each intern under the insurance schemes of the Government of India through the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, for which the premium amount shall be given by the Government of India. In addition, the company may also provide additional accidental insurance coverage to the interns
