The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM KISAN) scheme is a flagship government income-support scheme especially made for farmers. Beneficiaries who are not registered under this ID may face delays or may not receive the 22nd instalment and the payments after that.
This change has been initiated to ensure that financial assistance reaches the genuine landholding farmers. By creating this verified national database, the government intends to eliminate beneficiaries who are defrauding or duplicating the system, and availing of unfair benefits. What Happens To The e-KYC System?
The compulsory implementation of Farmer ID, however, does not mean that other mandatory steps will not be in the process anymore. The e-know-your-customer (e-KYC) norms will continue to be a mandatory process for all PM-KISAN beneficiaries. Farmers who have not completed this process will also face delays or stoppages in the instalment transactions.
Farmers can complete the e-KYC process online by visiting the PM-KISAN website, and register using their Aadhaar details and OTP verification received on their registered mobile number. This process only takes a few minutes but is essential to keep the process active for the beneficiaries.
