PM-Kisan DBT facility launched in Rajasthan on Sunday.
Eligible farmer families receive Rs 6,000 annually.
Payments are made in three Rs 2,000 instalments.
Union Minister of Home and Cooperation Amit Shah launched the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) facility for the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) scheme at an event in Alwar in Rajasthan on August 16, 2026. The PM-Kisan is a central government scheme that provides financial assistance to eligible farmer families who meet the conditions set under the programme.
Rs 6,000 Annual Assistance Under PM-Kisan
Under the PM Kisan scheme, the Rs 6,000 annual assistance is divided into three equal payments of Rs 2,000 each. The payments are released during the year after the beneficiary meets the required conditions and verification checks.
The support is provided at the family level rather than separately to each person who owns agricultural land in the same family. The definition of a farmer family under the scheme covers a husband, wife and minor children who collectively own cultivable land according to the relevant state or Union Territory land records.
The scheme is linked to land records, which are used to identify eligible beneficiaries. The money is sent directly to the bank account of the eligible beneficiary through the DBT system.
Who may Receive PM-Kisan Benefits
PM Kisan is meant for eligible landholding farmer families, subject to the exclusion rules. Farmers need to have their land and beneficiary details correctly recorded with the authorities.
There are also categories that do not qualify for PM-Kisan assistance. Institutional landholders are excluded. Certain serving and retired government employees are also outside the scheme, subject to the conditions specified by the government.
People holding specified constitutional positions, and some former or current public office holders are also excluded. Professionals, such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants and architects who are registered with professional bodies and practise their professions are among the excluded categories.
Individuals who paid income tax in the previous assessment year are also not eligible for the benefit.
Verification Is Required For Payments
PM-Kisan payments are processed after beneficiary details go through the required checks. Aadhaar authentication, land record verification, and bank account details are among the information used for processing benefits.
Farmers can check their beneficiary status and payment details through the PM-Kisan system. If the payment is stuck, farmers may need to check whether their Aadhaar details, bank account information, or land records have been correctly recorded.
