DDA housing sales jump over 340 per cent.
Revenue from sales crosses Rs 10,446 crore.
Policy reforms boost buyer participation.
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has recorded a huge 340.90 per cent increase in housing sales, the highest, in the last four years. Between 2022-23 and 2025-26, DDA sold 29,909 housing units as compared to 6,783 units sold between 2018-19 and 2021-22, indicating a growing demand for housing schemes and the impact of several policy changes that were introduced by the authority.
This steep increase in sales has also translated into a major revenue boost for the authority. Revenue collected from the housing sales reached nearly Rs 10,446 crore during 2022-23 to 2025-26, up 152.90 per cent as compared to Rs 4,130 crore during 2018-19 to 2021-22.
This growth can be credited to a number of reforms and policy measures that has made DDA housing schemes attractive and accessible to buyers.
One of the key changes was the shift from the traditional lottery-based system to a first-come, first-served model; it ensured a fairer housing scheme for aspirational buyers. This change allowed the potential buyers to select flats directly instead of relying on a lottery system, which was prone to rigging.
The authority also took steps to ensure that only serious buyers got to participate in the booking process. For instance, in order to start the booking process with applications, a token amount was charged. This ensured that speculative buyers were discouraged, according to a report in the Hindustan Times.
Aside from this, the authority introduced online systems on its official website to ensure simplification of the application process and completion of documents. These initiatives helped reduce the delays that were once common, while also ensuring the process is transparent for homebuyers in the housing allocation process.
