Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) beneficiaries will now have to complete Aadhaar authentication as part of the process for accessing specified benefits and services. The requirement comes under Section 142 of the Code on Social Security, 2020. The Ministry of Labour and Employment has asked insured persons to link their Aadhaar with their ESIC Pehchan Card. Earlier in May 2026, ESIC had issued instructions for putting the Aadhaar-based system in place.
Section 142 of the Code on Social Security, 2020, covers Aadhaar-based identification for certain social-security services. The provision allows Aadhaar to be used for establishing the identity of eligible people during registration and while accessing specified benefits and services. It also covers payments and medical attendance available to insured persons and eligible dependants.
Aadhaar Linkage And ESIC Records
The Labour Ministry raised the issue in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on September 7, 2026. It asked all ESIC beneficiaries to complete Aadhaar authentication and seed their Aadhaar details with their Pehchan Card. The ministry has also directed beneficiaries to the ESIC website for information on how to complete the process.
For beneficiaries, the first step is to check their ESIC account and see whether Aadhaar seeding has been completed.
How To Link Aadhaar With ESIC Pehchan Card
Beneficiaries can complete Aadhaar seeding through the ESIC system using their insured-person details.
They can connect their Aadhaar by logging in to the official ESIC portal and selecting the Aadhaar-seeding option. Then they have to provide their Aadhaar information and verify it as directed in the portal. Where an acknowledgement or reference number is given, users should keep note of it for future reference.

Beneficiaries should check their ESIC account to confirm whether their Aadhaar details have been linked and authentication has been completed.
Those who have not completed the process should use the ESIC portal and follow the instructions provided therein. Aadhaar details should not be given to unauthorised agents, websites or other third parties.
The Labour Ministry’s September 7 post does not mention a specific date by which beneficiaries have to complete their Aadhaar authentication. Any deadline or change in the process will have to be checked through official updates by ESIC or the Labour Ministry.
