Summary of this article

·        CISF welfare portal launched for efficient online services for CISF personnel

·        Personal loan interest reduced to 3 per cent with a five-year repayment.

·        Retiring personnel to receive Rs 1.25 lakh lump sum benefit

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel can now apply for a loan and avail of other service-related facilities online, starting today, September 1, 2025, on the new welfare portal launched for them. It will benefit approximately 1.6 lakh CISF personnel by providing faster loans, reimbursements, and retirement benefits through a single window. Earlier, the processes were manual, which was time-consuming, lengthy, and tedious. This portal is expected to improve the service experience of India’s paramilitary forces by providing them a single platform to apply for and avail of low-cost loans, medical reimbursement, and a lump-sum retirement payout.

CISF has made improvements not only in the process but in the service rules themselves. They have lowered the interest rates on loans and increased the repayment period, along with other benefits, including CISF wards’ education scholarship, special allowances, and risk saving benefits at retirement. Here are the details of the changes in benefits.

Lower Interest Loan

This change includes an increased limit for personal loans up to Rs 5 lakh at a 3 per cent per annum interest rate. This rate was 6 per cent earlier, per ANI report. In addition to reducing personal loan interest rates to half, the repayment period has also been extended to five years from the previous three years.

In a huge relief on medical loans, the interest rate is set at 2 per cent, even lower than the personal loans. Besides, the ceiling on the amount for home loans and loans for marriage has also been increased to Rs 5 lakh.

Increased Lump Sum For Retiring Personnel

The retiring personnel will get an enhanced amount of lump sum, Rs 1.25 lakh, upon retirement, compared to the earlier Rs 75,000 to Rs 80,000. The limit for ex gratia funeral expenses is increased by Rs 10,000 to Rs 35,000.

Scholarships For Wards

The eligibility for the Director General (DG) scholarship has been expanded to include a larger pool of wards of CISF personnel. The scholarship, which was earlier available for only those with above 90 per cent marks (in 10+2) with a capping of 150 students, has now been extended to wards with above 80 per cent marks without any capping on the number of beneficiaries. The scholarship amount is Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000 for marks above 80 per cent and above 90 per cent, respectively.

Further, the wards of martyrs are also eligible for a scholarship, starting from class 1 to PG. The scholarship has been enhanced to Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000.

Medical Reimbursement

Another significant change includes full reimbursement of the out-of-pocket expenses through the central welfare fund. This includes those under the government's Ayushman CAPF and CGHS schemes. The reimbursement was previously capped at 10 per cent of the bill for a maximum of Rs 50,000. The benefit will now be available even during extraordinary leaves due to medical reasons.

Other Benefits

Additionally, the refreshment fund per head on special occasions (Republic Day, Independence Day, etc.) has been increased to Rs 50 per head, and for those participating in the parade events, to Rs 100 per head per day.

This portal is aimed at fostering transparency and faster processing. It lays down the priority of loans for settlement, starting from medical treatment, marriage, education, housing to others. The funds would be transferred within 15 days of application.

Reportedly, CISF would keep Rs 100 crore aside for the welfare needs, which is around 80 per cent of the total welfare fund. With the new portal, CISF personnel could benefit from faster support in accessing facilities and funds.
