Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, originally called Kalaingar Kaappittu Thittam, was launched in 2009 to provide healthcare to the economically weaker sections of the society in Tamil Nadu. It is a family floater scheme offered by United India Insurance and covers treatments, diagnostics, post-operation check-ups, and care. The scheme provides up to Rs 5 lakh insurance coverage through a network of private and public hospitals. It provides cashless services aimed at ensuring universal health coverage in the state.
