Ayushman Bharat Yojana:
The scheme provides health insurance and healthcare benefits to those belonging to economically weaker sections of society. It offers health insurance of Rs 5 lakh to the beneficiaries per family based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) of 2011 and access to Arogya Mandirs. In October 2024, the scheme was extended to all resident senior citizens aged 70 years and above, irrespective of their socio-economic conditions to reduce the healthcare-related financial burden from them.
Under the scheme, one can avail of up to Rs 5 lakh insurance per year for hospitalisation and tertiary care.
Notably, the scheme covers pre-existing diseases from day one without any waiting period. One can avail of the insurance benefits as a cashless facility at the empanelled hospitals.
