The headline indices finished the week lower on July 25. The Sensex closed at 81,463.09, shedding 721.08 points or 0.88 per cent. The 50-share Nifty also closed the session lower by 225.10 points or 0.90 per cent at 24,837. Here’s a look at some of the key events which are likely to affect trade on D-Street in the coming week.

Trade Tariff Deadline

The August 1 deadline for the imposition of trade tariffs is nearing. Stock market indices across the globe are expected to factor in the impact of the trade tariffs. Ahead of the imposition of trade tariffs on US trading partners, any announcement related to the signing of trade deals is also expected to impact D-Street.

Upcoming Federal Reserve Meet

The US Federal Open Market Committee Meeting (FOMC) is scheduled to commence on July 29. Federal Reserve Chairperson Jerome Powell will share the stance the Fed has on inflation and the potential impact of the trade tariffs. The outcome of the Federal Reserve meeting will be announced on July 30.

June Quarter Earnings

Several listed companies are scheduled to announce their results for the quarter ended June 30, 2025 in the coming week. As many as 12 companies whose stocks are listed on the Nifty 50 will be announcing their financial results. These include, Titan Intech, Maruti Suzuki India, ITC, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindustan Unilever, Eicher Motors, Tata Steel, NTPC, Bharat Electronics (BEL), Coal India, Indusind Bank and Larsen & Toubro.

Other major companies which will announce their results for the June quarter of FY26 include Adani Green Energy, Adani Total Gas, CarTrade Tech, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, NTPC Green Energy and RailTel Corporation of India.

FII / DII Action

So far, in July, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) have remained net sellers of Indian equities making net sales of Rs 30,508.66 crore. FIIs have remained net sellers for the last five consecutive sessions. D-Steet is expected to factor in the impact of FII and DII activity in the upcoming trades.

Declining Rupee

The rupee continued to fall in value compared to the dollar for the third straight day on July 25. The domestic currency came under pressure from outflows from local stocks and heightened sense of caution among investors ahead of the US Fed meeting and the impending tariff deadline. The rupee finished the week at Rs 86.515 per dollar, down 0.4 per cent.

Crude Oil

Crude oil prices declined on July 25, hitting a three-week low amid concerns regarding negative economic news from the US. The price of West Texas Intermediate crude was $65.16 at the end of the session, indicating a decline of $0.87 or 1.32 per cent. The price of Brent Crude declined to $68.44, down by $0.74 or 1.07 per cent.
