Shares of induction cooktop-making companies have rallied as much as 30 per cent over the past three sessions as an LPG shortage across parts of the country pushed households to look for alternative cooking options. LPG is a key cooking fuel used by both households and commercial establishments.
The shortage has triggered a sharp surge in demand for induction stoves, leading to limited availability on several major online platforms.
Searches on e-commerce and quick-commerce apps such as Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit and Swiggy show many induction cooktop models listed as “out of stock” or “currently unavailable”.
Tighter LPG supply is pushing many households to switch to electric cooking appliances. Induction cooktops are becoming a popular alternative to gas stoves.
Consumer Durable Stocks Rally
Leading the gains, TTK Prestige zoomed upt to 30 per cent over the previous three sessions, followed by Butterfly Gandhimathi Appliances, which gained over 19 per cent. Stove Kraft, which sells its products under the popular brand ‘Pegion’, rallied nearly 9 per cent. Bajaj Electricals, too, surged about 8 per cent.
Induction cooktops made up about 11 per cent of TTK Prestige’s total sales in FY25. The segment generated around Rs 273 crore in revenue, out of the company’s total revenue of Rs 2,530 crore in that financial year.
For Stove Kraft as well, induction cooktops contributed 11 per cent of the total revenue the company generated in 9M FY26.
Induction cooktops form only a small part of Butterfly Gandhimathi’s product portfolio, as the company reports them under its broader small appliances category rather than as a separate revenue segment.
Weddings Also Feel The Thaw Of LPG Shortage
The LPG shortage is also raising concerns in the events and catering industry, which relies heavily on LPG for large-scale cooking. Wedding feasts depend heavily on a steady supply of LPG cylinders. However, according to reports, caterers and wedding planners across the country are complaining supply disruptions have made them cautious ahead of upcoming ceremonies. Restaurants and commercial kitchens in several parts of the city have also reported irregular LPG supplies, prompting vendors who organise large wedding events to hike their rates.
