The Sensex and the Nifty snapped a two-day losing streak on October 15, 2025. The benchmarks finished higher amid positive signals, including a dovish comment by the US Federal Reserve’s chair.
The 30-share Sensex closed at 82,605.43, up by 575.45 points or 0.70 per cent. The Nifty 50 closed at 25,323.55, up by 178.05 points or 0.71 per cent.
Bajaj Finance and Nestle India Lead Gainers
Shares of Bajaj Finance, Nestle India and Bajaj Finserv emerged as the top-gainers among Nifty 50 stocks, closing higher by 4.07 per cent, 3.98 per cent and 3.14 per cent, respectively on the NSE. Other major gainers included Trent and Asian Paints which finished the session higher by 2.64 per cent and 2.54 per cent, respectively.
Nifty Realty and Nifty Metal Gain
The Nifty Realty and the Nifty Metal indices emerged as the top gainers among all sectoral indices, closing higher by 3.04 per cent and 1 per cent, respectively. Broader market indices also tracked gains in the benchmark and finished higher, the Nifty MidCap 100 and the Nifty SmallCap 100 closed with gains of 1.11 per cent and 0.82 per cent, respectively.
Global Markets On October 15
Asian indices gained on October 15 amid positive global cues. The Nikkei 225 and Hang Seng closed with gains of 1.77 per cent and 1.80 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, the KOSPI and the Shanghai Composite closed higher by 2.61 per cent and 1.20 per cent, respectively.
Primary Market Activity Today
The share allotment status of Canara HSBC Life Insurance’s initial public offering (IPO) and SME issues, such as those of Sihora Industries IPO and SK Minerals & Additives IPO will be finalised on October 15. On the other hand, the Midwest IPO opened for subscription today.
Market Outlook
D-Street is likely to react to several cues, such as the announcement of a potential rate cut by the US Federal Reserve later in October. On the other hand, rising prices of safe haven assets are also likely to affect the market amid an increase in uncertainty. D-Street is also set to see stock specific action, as companies announce their financial results for the September quarter of FY26.
