Summary of this article

  • Some farmers will be eligible for Rs. 4,000 as total payout in 22nd instalment of PM- Kisan

  • Here are processes to do to avail benefits under the scheme

Farmers are eagerly waiting for the announcement of when the 22nd instalment of the PM- Kisan scheme will be released. The 21st instalment was released by the central government in November, and according to reports the 22nd instalment should be released by February.

Who will get Rs. 4,000

There are some reports which say that the 22nd instalment could give Rs. 4,000 to farmers instead of Rs. 2,000. Typically, under the scheme a direct benefit transfer is made to landholding farmer families of Rs. 2,000 in three tranches annually. However, reports of the Rs. 4,000 benefit have sparked interest in some.

So far, the government has paid farmers in 21 instalments since the inception of the scheme in 2019. But the reason why Rs. 4,000 could be paid to some farmers is pretty simple.

Farmers who missed the previous benefit of Rs, 2,000 made in November, for reasons such as incomplete e-KYC process, unverified land records, Aaddhaar and bank account not linked will be eligible for the benefit when the 22nd instalment is released. With the 22nd instalment of Rs. 2,000, such farmers will also be eligible to get the arrear of Rs. 2,000 due from the 21st instalment.

In the meanwhile when farmers are waiting for the announcement these are the some of the preparations that must be taken to receive the benefits under the central benefit scheme.

Complete these tasks in the meantime

As mentioned before, farmers need to complete certain processes to avail the benefits of the PM- Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

In order to receive the payouts without any interruption, farmers need to do update the following:

Complete e-KYC processes. This is one of the most important requirements to avail benefits under the scheme. Famers can complete this process themselves by going on the e-portal of pmkisan.gov.in website. Another must for farmers is to link their Aadhaar cards with their bank accounts. The transfer will not be sent if the two are not linked. These processes must be completed beforehand in order to receive the benefits undisrupted.
