On February 24, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the 19th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) initiative in Bhagalpur, Bihar. The PM said that over 9.8 crore farmers, including 2.41 crore female farmers across the country, will benefit from the scheme.

The beneficiaries will receive direct financial assistance exceeding Rs 22,000 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) without any middlemen, reinforcing the government's commitment to farmer welfare and agricultural prosperity. With the latest instalment of the scheme, the government seeks to reinforce its commitment to rural development and agricultural success.

 

Ineligible people  Under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi

Families who own land and practice agriculture will get Rs 6,000 in annual income support, divided into three equal installments.  Each of these Rs. 2,000 installments will be sent to the beneficiaries bank accounts every four months. Eligible family members include the husband, wife, and children.

Institutional landholders include farmer families who are former or current holders of constitutional positions, former or current Ministers/State Ministers, former or current Members of Lok Sabha/Rajya Sabha/State Legislative Assemblies/State Legislative Councils, former or present Mayors of Municipal Corporations, and former or current Chairpersons of District Panchayats.

In addition, serving or retired officers and employees of Central/State Government Ministries/Offices/Departments, their field units, Central or State PSEs, Attached offices/Autonomous Institutions under the Government, and regular employees of Local Bodies (excluding Multi-Tasking Staff/Class IV/Group D employees) are ineligible. Pensioners earning Rs 10,000 or more per month are not eligible for superannuation. These do not include multitaskers or Class IV/Group D personnel. Farmers who have paid income tax in the previous assessment year are also not eligible.

Eligible People Under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, initially limited to small and marginal farmers with land up to 2 hectares, has expanded its scope to include all farmers with land in their own name.

The scheme's eligibility criteria include a "farmer family" consisting of a husband, wife, and minor children below 18 years of age, using cultivable land up to 2 hectares for farming, and having a primary income mainly from agriculture. Farmers using non-cultivable land or land for non-agricultural purposes will not be eligible. The scheme is now available to all farmers in the country.

How To Check Beneficiary Status?

  • Visit the Official PM Kisan Website: Go to the PM Kisan portal

  • Go to Beneficiary Status Page: Click on the ‘Beneficiary Status’ or ‘Know Your Status’ tab

  • Enter Your Details: Simply use your Aadhaar number or bank account number to check if you’re eligible

All PM Kisan-registered farmers must complete the eKYC procedure. The PM Kisan scheme offers farmers three types of eKYC: OTP-based e-KYC (available through the PM-Kisan Portal and Mobile App), biometric-based e-KYC (available at Common Service Centres (CSCs) and State Seva Kendras (SSKs), and face authentication-based e-KYC (available on the PM Kisan Mobile App).
