Aditya Birla ‘Activ One’ Health Insurance Plan Has No Upper Age Limit, Should Seniors Consider It?

Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co. Limited (ABHICL) on Friday launched  Aditya Birla ‘Activ One’ Health Insurance Policy ‘, a comprehensive health insurance plan with a minimum entry age of 18 and no upper age limit, allowing senior citizens to explore the product. This policy covers seven chronic ailments from day one: diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, obesity, and chronic obstructive pulmonary and coronary artery diseases. Policyholders can also benefit from a lower premium for good health. The policy offers the “earn back premium” facility up to 100 percent. This amount is determined based on the policyholder’s “Healthy Heart Score”, the number of days a policyholder remains active in a month, and the fitness assessment result. Activities such as exercise, daily walks, footsteps, yoga sessions attended, etc., will be considered to determine the active days. Funds earned under “Health Returns” can be used at renewals, for outpatient and non-medical expenses, etc. In a press release, Mayank Bathwal, CEO of Aditya Birla Health Insurance, said: “Activ One addresses the needs of every consumer across their health or life stages and at stages of battling chronic ailments. Seven variants built into one product (for) offering the power of one to all.” Bathwal added Activ One ensures a simplified and comprehensive healthcare solution “that is personalized, rewarding, and worry-free” for policyholders. The policy covers in-patient, pre-, and post-hospitalisation up to 90 days and 180 days, respectively. All expenses incurred during this period are refundable. It also offers optional cover for personal accidents, critical illnesses, second medical opinion, and cover for durable equipment. It also extends coverage to live-in partners of the same or opposite sex.

Earn Back: Policyholders can earn back their premium by maintaining good health besides using the amount for OPD expenses, premium payments, or any non-medical expenses. Claim Protect: The policy covers expenses for non-medical items like gloves, face masks, oxygen cylinders, etc. Sub-Limit: There is no sub-limit on ICU (intensive care unit) charges, room rent, oral chemotherapy, etc. Super Credit: This benefit offers a higher sum for inflation. The sum insured will increase ‘by up to six times, by the 6th year of the policy, irrespective of claims, at no extra premium, it said. Reload Feature: Under this, policyholders can refill the policy premium unlimited times up to the base sum insured during the year to ensure sufficient health coverage all the time.
