The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has introduced a housing initiative aimed at providing affordable and accessible housing for employees and pensioners, PSUs, government, public sector banks, local bodies, and government universities in the capital. This scheme is launched as the Karamyogi Awas Yojana. The scheme focuses on providing completed, ready-to-move-in flats at a reduced cost. The reduced amount is not a discount, but a rebate. This initiative supports the government’s objective of improving the living standards for public-sector workers while also contributing to Delhi’s urban expansion efforts.

The highlight of the Karamyogi Awas Yojana is that it offers a 25 per cent rebate on the housing prices offered. The housing offered is located in Narela’s Pocket 9; these are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Under the scheme, 320 one-bedroom flats, 576 two-bedroom flats, and 272 three-bedroom flats are being offered in the sectors A1 to A4 in pocket 9 of Narela.

1BHK flats are being offered from 61.17 to 61.65 square meters, while 2BHK flats are offered between 126.53 and 140.56 square meters. 3BHK units are being offered in a range of 163.76 to 183.36 square meters. This is coming from a DDA official through a report from Hindustan Times.

DDA is offering 1BHK units at Rs 34.03 - 34.28 lakhs, 2BHK units at Rs 79.81 - 88.16 lakhs, and 3BHK units at Rs 1.15 - 1.27 crore. These prices will be met with a 25 per cent rebate, which will ultimately reduce the total pricing overall. Besides the flat cost, buyers are required to pay a maintenance cost that is a one-time payment at the time of issuing demand letters.

This move with the rebate will substantially lower the financial burden on employees and pensioners, making homeownership far more achievable in the city. Property prices in Delhi see a substantial and positive growth, and such rebates offer a relief to interested buyers and investors, offering inclusivity in ownership in Delhi.

The launch of the scheme comes from a vision of long-term community building. By placing such a significant project in Narela, Delhi, the area is well set for growth and infrastructural development. DDA is currently in the process of establishing an online registration framework that will support the scheme. This will ensure that the applicants have one platform that supports applying, submission and verification of documents all in one place.

With the launch of Karamyogi Awas Yojana, the government signals a step towards making the housing sector more inclusive and accessible for low and middle-income employees and pensioners.
